If you have been charged with an offence, are being investigated, are being held in custody awaiting bail, or are concerned about a criminal or driving charge, you can talk to Tarun directly.

Tarun Narang founded Narang Defence after his previous role at a private firm in the Okanagan, where he conducted s. 490 applications on behalf of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police as a standing agent for the Department of Justice. With his background acting for the RCMP and his litigation experience, Tarun has been a member of the criminal defence bar in Edmonton for over a year, and now lends his skills to defendants in need of careful advocacy and legal representation.

Background

Tarun was born in Indore, India and grew up on the north side of Edmonton, Alberta. He pursued a degree in Medieval & Ancient History and Economics at the University of Alberta, and worked at a local Edmonton law firm as a legal intern. His interest in the humanities and his experience working in a local Edmonton law firm sparked a lasting interest in litigation and the practice of law.

That interest led him to enroll in the Dual J.D. program with the University of Windsor and the University of Detroit Mercy. During the program, Tarun attended both universities and represented criminal defendants in the 34th District Court in Detroit, Michigan.

Articling and early practice

Tarun articled at a small firm in Prince George, British Columbia, where he gained significant experience appearing in Provincial Court on contested matters. Throughout his articles, he worked with a wide range of clients and developed practical strategies tailored to their unique situations. While articling, Tarun had sole conduct of multiple trials and travelled to communities across the Northern Interior of British Columbia — including Williams Lake and Dawson Creek — to meet his clients and advocate for them in court.

His diligence, attention to detail, and grounded personality let his clients know they are in good hands.

Outside the courtroom

Outside of the courtroom, you might find Tarun at the gym, or at one of the many farmers markets in Edmonton and the surrounding areas. He also enjoys cooking for friends and family using local produce.
